Ahmad Jamal Moves On

The world has lost another jazz legend. Ahmad Jamal, the legendary pianist has passed at the age of 92. The family says it was a peaceful passing. Jamal rose to prominence in the 50’s after his excellent rendition of Poinciana became a smash hit. The live album which contained it, “At The Pershing” stayed on the charts for three years, a feat almost unheard of at the time. His career had ups and downs both personally and career wise but he stuck by his ideals and morals without compromise. He enjoyed a late life revival of sorts with the attention around the release of two live collections recorded in the early ’60s that were discovered and released in the past couple years. Thank you, Mr Jamal for all you’ve given the world. Be free.
