On October 25 a fire broke out on the top floor of the famed Washington DC jazz club, Blues Alley. The fire was noticed just as sax man Owen Broder and his band were about to take the stage. Everyone was able to get out safely and no one was hurt. The extent of the damage isn’t known but according to reports, firefighters had to remove at least a portion of the roof to get at the fire.
Blues Alley is closed for repairs but promises to be back. A tweet from the club’s management bore the caption ”LIKE A PHOENIX WE WILL RISE”
