Pioneering guitarist Emily Remler should be celebrating her 65th birthday today (September 18) but a debilitating Heroin addiction doused her flame at only 32 years of age. She was a guitarist of uncommon ability channeling the style of Wes Montgomery into something all her own. Facing significant backlash for being a woman in a supposed man’s game, she recorded 7 albums as leader including a collaboration with Larry Coryell. All are outstanding. RIP Emily. If you struggle with addiction get help. Recovery is strength. Recovery is possible.
